A board built by Montanans, for Montanans
Foresters, engineers, attorneys, advocates, and lifelong riders — our directors live and work in the towns whose streets they're trying to improve, from the Bitterroot to the Hi-Line.
Officers
Chris Fox
A retired U.S. Forest Service environmental planner in the Bitterroot since 2008, and an avid road and mountain cyclist. Chris came up through the affiliate Bike Walk Bitterroot and now focuses on improving Montana's non-motorized transportation laws and educating people about them.
Ben Weiss
Bicycle/Pedestrian Program Manager for the City of Missoula, where his work — from long-range planning to facility design to education — helps keep Missoula among the best places to bike and walk in the country. Off the clock he rafts, skis, and plays keyboards in several bands.
Across the state.
Our directors bring expertise from forestry, engineering, law, and a lifetime of riding and walking Montana's roads and trails.
Linda Gryczan
Has been cycle touring for more than 50 years and bikepacks wherever she can find dirt roads. A year-round bike commuter who ran the mobile repair shop Alice B Toeclips Cyclery for 25 years, and a former lobbyist who advocates for safe biking and walking in the legislature.
John Juras
A Professional Civil Engineer and cycling enthusiast who pairs his engineering work with advocacy for non-motorized transportation around Great Falls. He serves on the River's Edge Trail board and has long helped organize the Great Falls Bicycle Club.
Kathy Aragon
A community health advocate focused on safe routes to school. She helped Billings win EPA assistance and develop the Smart School Siting Tool, and serves on community committees making it safer for kids to walk, bike, and roll to school.
Gene Townsend
A Headwaters-area native and former Three Forks mayor who started the Headwaters Trail System in 1997 — now a 10+ mile, award-winning paved trail. He and his wife Pat write grants and host an annual run/walk to fund and expand it.
Bruce Anderson
A Montana native and MSU earth-sciences graduate, former Navy helicopter pilot and smokejumper, and 10-time half-ironman triathlete. He brings a passion for walk, bike, and roll safety and for making the outdoors accessible for all.
Mike Talia
A Helena lawyer who fell in love with cycling on a chrome Redline BMX as a kid. Now he commutes by bike in nearly all weather (just not ice) and takes family cycling adventures — his favorite ride is Going-to-the-Sun Road in the early season.
Chris Neill
Has called Eureka home since 1996, where he runs a custom woodworking shop, bicycle hostel, and lumber company. He rides at least three times a week year-round — pavement, gravel, or snow — and advocates for the safety of cyclists, walkers, and rollers.
Help steer the work.
Our board and committees are powered by volunteers who care about safe streets. If that's you, we'd love to talk — no special title required, just a willingness to show up for your community.
