Programs that meet Montanans where they live

From a walking prescription written in a clinic to a pop-up crosswalk on Main Street, our education and encouragement work makes the safe choice the easy choice.

01 — Educate

Teach the skills

Road-safety classes and resources that help kids and adults walk, bike, and drive more safely around one another.

02 — Encourage

Make it inviting

Walking prescriptions, demonstrations, and events that give people a reason — and a safe place — to get moving.

03 — Advocate

Change the streets

Education

Road-safety education

We bring practical, hands-on safety education to schools, community groups, and clinics across the state — teaching the habits that prevent crashes and build confidence.

  • Youth and adult bike & pedestrian safety
  • Driver awareness around people who walk and roll
  • Free resources for teachers and community leaders

Encouragement

Walking prescriptions

In partnership with clinics, providers write a literal prescription to walk — pairing a doctor's encouragement with safe, nearby routes. It's a simple idea with real health impact, especially in rural Montana.

  • Clinician-backed motivation to move
  • Local, mapped routes patients can trust

Pop-up traffic calming

We help communities test safer street designs before they pour concrete — temporary curb extensions, crosswalks, and bike lanes that let residents experience the difference for a day. Built in partnership with AARP and MSU's Western Transportation Institute.

  • Low-cost, temporary demonstrations
  • Real data and resident feedback for decision-makers
Better together

We don't do this alone.

Our programs are built with partners who bring research, reach, and resources to communities statewide.
